So, in browsing through everyone's posts about what happened for them on 3.11 I really felt that like the book with tweets from people the day of the event, that these too should be compiled in someway. There was a common thread among us being college students and all and having decided to still come here. However it became evident that it wasn't just the international students (http://yougenee.blogspot.com/)that received flack about coming here this semester, but even native Japanese (http://kaorukuri.posterous.com/)
Many people cited how the information they collected either felt too understated or exaggerated and there became a sense of distrust which most people filtered by electronic means. Nearly every person mentions in some fashion, being on a social networking cite in order to communicate with others or to better understand the situation. Mainly twitter, facebook, and news sites were used to overcome feeling useless. Many, also felt the need to defend there situation (http://tanihanabi.blogspot.com/2011/04/blog-post_18.html) and for the sake of family and friends, tried to understand as much about the reality of the power plants and subsequent issues, as possible.
I think many people would agree that without the use of current technology, the sense of interconnectedness among the people in Japan and around the world could not be possible at this crucial time.
